REMEMBER the Police Academy cop with the bendy voice who could mimic anything? I always thought Michael Winslow aka Officer Larvelle Jones was aided by sound effects. Turns out I was wrong – he’s a world famous beatboxer and comedian who can imitate more than 1,000 sounds from recreating Hendrix to the roar of a jet plane. He was also in Spaceballs and voiced a Gremlin – got to be worth leaving your cosy homes for this one. He plays the Jazz Cafe on Dec 8.

But the best collection of his Police Academy talents can be seen here Officer Larvelle Jones, Police Academy
• More noteable events at the Jazz Cafe include US dreamboat (some might say) John Legend & The Roots on Sunday (Nov 28), Botown – the soul band of Bollywood (curious) (Nov 27) and Ninja Tunes darling The Herbaliser (Nov 3).
• There’s so much to say about Mencap Little Noise Sessions that you’ll have to look online for our full reviews. I just need to remind you they’ve managed to convince the loony Scissor Sisters to play an acoustic set at Bush Hall (Dec 4) and the Pet Shop Boys to headline the Big Noise Session at Hammersmith Apollo, (Dec 8).
• If you don’t recognise Fistful of Mercy in our listings (Dec 3), it’s actually a supergroup of sorts – Ben Harper, Dhani Harrison (son of Beatle George) and troubadour Joseph Arthur –wonder how Koko will cope with all those music heads on one stage.
• Islington’s Union Chapel may be hidden in a quiet Islington terrace but it’s not to be underestimated. The latest coup? Sir Elton John tonight (Thursday).
• Feel like sharing the Christmas spirit? Musicians and choirs are being sought to busk on Hampstead High Street. Email emsmagnus@btinternet.com for info.

GENEROUS JARVIS COCKER, SERGE'S SOUNDTRACK, N-DUBZ' "SUCCESS" + WINO POPS UP IN CAMDEN SHOCK
Jarvis Cocker did a fantastic job hosting, posed for a photograph with me and generously stopped to listen to troubadour Joseph Strouzer play the Ballad of the Big Beautiful Woman all the way through.
His verdict: "I like it, especially how it turned out in the end, of course you won't ever get any air-time."
Strouzer said afterwards: "I guess he was referring to the ever-so subtle sexual references woven into the lyrics."

Professor Green did a brilliant job of headlining, bringing some grime vibes to the gallery, while Amy Winehouse popped up, as she does, onstage, took a spot next to the backing singers and danced along for a whole song before running off to mingle. Mumford & Sons DJed but it felt like a waste of their talents. Great night though.
• The iTunes Festival begins on July 1 at Camden Roundhouse, a month of huge names, from Tony Bennett to Ozzy Osbourne, Scissor Sisters to N-Dubz. Eighties hair rock bands Europe and Foreigner this week confirmed they play on July 25.
• The beautiful Serge Pizzorno, yes Kasabian bandana man, is lending his talents to Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding. Fielding’s summer art show, at London’s oldest cake shop Maison Bertaux, Greek Street, Soho (July 5), includes an installation with an original soundtrack by Pizzorno.
• Love Being N-Dubz – a six-part C4 documentary on Camden’s finest, with the second programme going out on Monday. Best quote so far from Dappy: “I’m a success, sir”, followed seconds later by “I’ve got an Oyster, I’m legit.”
• Juliette Lewis unveils her new album Terra Incognita – the album she’s always wanted to make – at London Borderline on June 30.
• Celebs are coming out in force to back a revival of the Finsbury Park Rise Festival, after Boris Johnson’s office pulled funding for it last year. Writer Meera Syal and Labour leadership contender Diane Abbott have joined Roots Manuva, Asian Dub Foundation, and Beardyman in their support for replacement festival UpRise: London United Against Racism (July 11). • Here’s an opportunity for genuine talent to impress industry giants EMI at Camden Roundhouse – 30/30, a groundbreaking youth music project for 16-25s. OZZY OZBOURNE GOES DARK FOR THE ROUNDHOUSE ITUNES FESTIVAL
TIME was, Ozzy Osbourne was primarily associated with Black Sabbath, alter-ego The Prince of Darkness and his on and offstage antics.
But in these days of celebrity obsession, half his family have overtaken him. The media spotlight spends more time shining on wife Sharon’s celebrity judge stints, daughter Kelly’s weight-loss and son Jack’s latest daredevil stunt.
In turn, Ozzy’s become the Boris Johnson face of heavy metal – a harmless-looking amiable mumbling chap, with unkempt hair, a questionable past and oft-seen wobbling on two wheels. But give the guy a break, he’s taking his limelight back and will be trying to be as convincing as possible as The Prince of Darkness at July’s month-long iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse.
The full 31-day line-up – featuring more than 60 acts – has not yet been announced but we do know Scissor Sisters, Tony Bennett, Faithless, The XX, Chew Lips, The Drums, Chipmunk, Darwin Deez, Ellie Goulding, Kate Nash, Diana Vickers and Daisy Dares You are all on the bill.
Pick the right gig and you could inevitably find yourself witnessing one of those rare, historic sets that brings more than you bargained for. At last year’s festival Liam Gallagher made headlines at one of Oasis’s final performances when he strode on stage in a furious mood, eyeballing the crowd and swearing about students throwing beer at him. Even so, they played on for two hours, although at times it looked like Liam was about to go on strike.
The atmosphere between him and Noel was visibly tense, as big bro dismissed his sulky younger sibling and played on while Liam collected himself. But the entire evening was electric and one that won’t easily be forgotten. The irreparable cracks were pushed further apart and it was only a matter of time until our boys just couldn't stand to share the same stage any more.
The iTunes sets are usually quite short but who’s complaining when there’s the chance to see some huge acts up close for free.
That’s not to say you can just walk in. Apple is making tickets available through Facebook and a series of competitions and giveaways. My only reservation about this is it seems you can only access their iTunes page by allowing it to access your own Facebook page and take the details of your friends.
I may be wrong about this, but I could find no other way of getting on to it.
It will be the first time that Ozzy, Scissor Sisters and Tony Bennett have graced the Roundhouse stage.
All performances will be recorded and can be bought from iTunes stores worldwide. The best of the festival will be broadcast on ITV.
